Jessica McVey is a rising country artist out of the DFW area. She grew up in a small town in Illinois called Atlanta. She was born into a family of musicians and singers. Her parents toured the country in a christian 80's rock band when she was 3. Jessica discovered her love for music at a very early age using it as a pathway for expression. However, she didn't begin a career in music until much later in her life.  "Music was always there for me. It gave me a way to express myself without judgement. I could sing a song and connect with it. At the same time, I watch people in the crowd connect with it for different reasons. That is the beauty of music, it connects us all in so many ways."  Her debut single John Deere In The Headlights can be found on iTunes and Spotify and she is releasing her latest single Haunting Melody in the upcoming months.

Breaking Southwest

Breaking Southwest

Much like the melting pot that is the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas from which they hail, Kent Bell, Kyle Gaston, and Lauren Hall became an unlikely trio aptly named - Breaking Southwest. This country group represents the Texas pride and tradition, as well as the unique culture and flavor of that region.  “Everyone knows we Texans are very proud of our history, and with both of those things being true, we want to try to both ‘break the mold’ of what of what might be considered traditionally Texan, as well as ‘break’ our sound out to as big an audience as we can find,” explains lead singer, Kent.

Kent grew up in the ‘Friday Night Lights’ scene, so sports were a way of life, and Kent excelled in football and baseball. But he also carved out time to help lead worship for his church youth group.  Back in North Texas, after captaining his college football team and finishing his degree, he rediscovered his love for music. Meanwhile, just across town, Lauren was studying classical violin in Arlington, TX, and followed her passion to The University of North Texas.  She honed her craft: playing over 500 weddings, teaching lessons and playing in pop orchestras.  It was the freedom of the style she played in the pop orchestras that drew her to the fiddle. Nurse/Firefighter/SuperMan Kyle, who would secretly order rock albums from a catalogue that were banned in his conservative home, started playing guitar at 14. After college Kent and Kyle met through mutual friends, and a few writing sessions into their introduction realized they had similar styles. The duo started playing local bars and clubs and then met their fiddle/harmony soulmate, Lauren, two years ago.

In 2015 the trio won the inaugural Cumulus NASH Next artist development competition after an extensive series of challenges that allowed the contenders to showcase their musical and creative talents. This included a cover song performance, multiple songwriting competitions, the creation of an original Instagram video, a PicCollage project and a fully produced original music video. The winner from the nationwide talent search was decided based on a combination of feedback from the music industry judges, online fan voting and an original “Spin Index” of social media activity. Breaking Southwest competed against over 2,000 entrants which narrowed to 10 finalist in the final round of competition in front of judges including producer James Stroud, artist and radio personality Kix Brooks, and Cumulus’ Sr. VP of Content and Programming Mike McVay.  In October, BMLG president/CEO/founder Scott Borchetta was named as a surprise mentor.  As the competition winner, the band received a deal with Nash/Big Machine and digitally released “Ghost Town” in March 2016.

The three singer/songwriters loaded up and moved to Nashville earlier this year to continue the momentum in their musical journey.  “Our idea of success is constantly evolving,” says Kent.  “We are working hard on our songwriting, and we’re rehearsing like crazy.  The NASH Next win opened many doors for us, but when we decide to release new music we want it all to be there, the show, the vocals, the songwriting, the musicianship.”  Breaking Southwest delivers a power-packed show filled with original tunes, unique covers, and lots of energy. www.breakingsouthwest.com

Kaleb McIntire

Landing hard after the success of his 2012 album SCARS, Kaleb fielded offers from several major labels. Unwilling to give up his vision for what his next record should be, he turned down offers and set out to blaze his own path in the country music business. To do so he had to step back, take time to develop his sound, and find the perfect team to bring his vision to reality. It wouldn’t be a quick process. It would take two years.  Teaming up with Texas guitarist Bryant Hunter the two started writing new music and developing a sound that was brand new and hauntingly familiar at the same time.  During this time Kaleb’s first top 30 single, “Redneck In All of Us” had become so popular in Europe that the band decided a European tour was in order. So they packed up their axes and headed to Western Europe playing sold out venues like Billy Bob’s Country Western Saloon in MarnelaVallee France.  Fresh off the European tour and with a newfound appreciation for where his music could go, Kaleb enlisted the help of Nashville producer Heath Owen, son of legendary ALABAMA front man Randy Owen. They went to work refining the sound Kaleb and Bryant had forged and injecting influences from the likes of Elvis Presley and George Strait.

Gary Kyle

Gary Kyle

Born into to a big family headed by musical parents, a very young Gary was scratching out lyrics from the time he could put pen to paper. His urgency to write was a constant companion captaining him through a life infused with rich homemade love, personal family tragedy and a deep respect for the time allotted us in this life. Growing up just outside of Houston, Texas, he did his best to meet all the requirements that would make him a strong, well-rounded young man; did well in school, went to college where he got some of his best songwriting done while sitting in class, even got a sales job accompanied by a big devoted paycheck. Yet nothing gave him the peace he found in creating music, a beckoning that rose above the cacophony of a “responsible life.” The stage had been calling for years, and he finally answered. Gary and his guitar played over 250 shows that first year and had his first full length album “Livin’” to show for it. The following year, he phased in a fiercely skilled backing band, and within six months went from a brand new act to headliner around his neck of the woods. The course had been set, and Gary was headed towards his true north.

Over the next few years, Gary Kyle released two more studio projects, the full length album “Turn This Life Around” in 2011 and his latest EP “Texas Strong” in 2014. Combined all three released brought in four Top 30 singles on the Texas music charts including “Texas Strong,” the theme song for the nationally syndicated TV show “Lone Star Roads” with host and revered radio programmer, Justin Frazell. A growing demand for his live show kept him on the road for the most part of each month and he was honored to have the opportunity to share stages with alumni artists including John Michael Montgomery and Tanya Tucker. While Gary’s live show echoes his deep roots in Texas and the storied music scene that thrives there, his writing style is the seasoned recipe found largely in the music city of Nashville. It’s this kind of 50/50 concoction that removes all regional borders leaving Gary free to move about the “country.” It’s also the basis for his decision to release in his brand new album in halves.
